Statement: Social media changes the purpose of apparel from being functional to only aesthetically pleasing.

Question: How social media influence people willing to wear aesthetically pleasing apparel without comfortable and functional?

Clothes is one of four basic needs that people create to help cover our body in the part that sensitive and delicate from the dirtiness or the irritant surface. The apparel design for convenient in any particular activity and occasion that our body has to confront each day. So, apparel coming with function and pleasing in the proper component.

Nowadays, social media come and take a big role in people life. Everything around us changes action and role in unexpected ways. Also in the fashion industry, the role of apparel is distorted quite a lot.

In the world of social media, apparel is enhanced in the point of aesthetically pleasing more than the functional one. The thing that shows on social media is only visual without considering the function and convenience of our body in reality.

So, the proper components of function and pleasing are distorted and left out only pleasing that people are looking for in the world of social media.

At present, apparel design to fulfill only for a snapshot to post on social media. The apparel is only pleasing but not comfortable to wear as people show on social media.

The affection is about the emotion and health of the user. Moreover, most people are willing to wear and then throw it away when wearing it just one time because it not comfortable to wear again or it just twice on the post.

Social media changes the purpose of apparel from being functional to only aesthetically pleasing. This behavior make apparel affect to our health and emotion. However, people still willing to wear this kind of clothes. Because people focus on the pleasing more than the function

Also unsustainable to the environment in the way of use once and then throw it away because of the quality of the cloth or even just don’t want to make it twice on the social media.

Researchers from Northwestern University :Found that wearing specific articles of clothing had an effect on the wearer’spsychology and performance.

In medical terms, Wearing tight clothing can constantly compressing the body. As a result, the internal organs are damaged and It can cause the gas in the abdomen also hinder the digestive system.

In addition, it can cause blood clots or a blood stroke and trap moisture on the skin to cause infections and rashes.
